Scottish Ensemble and the Commonwealth Strings
The Scottish Ensemble and Commonwealth Strings perform music by Elgar, Sculthorpe, Vaughan Williams, Farr and Tippett at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh.
The Scottish Ensemble bring together fourteen of the foremost string players in the country and here join forces with some exceptional young string players from across the Commonwealth to perform a rich mixture of music from England, Australia and New Zealand. Works include two dazzling masterpieces for double orchestra by Vaughan Williams and Tippett and a world premiere from New Zealander Gareth Farr featuring mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly.
