Penny Gore presents music from Ten Pieces, our selection of music to engage and inspire primary school children. This week features pieces by Mozart, his Horn Concerto No. 4 - that's on Tuesday; on Wednesday, Mussorgsky's Night on the Bare Mountain; on Thursday, Anna Meredith's Connect It; and on Friday, Stravinsky's Firebird Suite. Opening the week today is Holst's Suite The Planets, including Collin Matthews' Pluto, for women's voices and orchestra, taken from a concert given in August by conductor Donald Runnicles and the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra - our main ensemble for the week. Also from that concert, Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem and Berg's 7 Early Songs, arranged for voice and orchestra, with soprano Michaela Kaune.

This is followed, as part of Radio 3's Brahms Experience, by the German composer's Symphony No. 2, again with the 大象传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra, under its Chief Conductor, Donald Runnicles.
