Simon Armitage

Simon Armitage is an award-winning poet, playwright and novelist. His poetry collections include ‘The Dead Sea Poems’, ‘Killing Time’ , ‘Universal Home Doctor’, and ‘Seeing Stars’. He talks to Ian about looking back over twenty-five years of his own writingÌý to put together ‘Paper Aeroplane’ (Faber), his selected poems. Simon also considers the influence of Frank O’Hara on his early work, his interest in brand names, the idea of poems as ‘photographic negatives’, andÌý shares work-in-progress (an extract from his version of the 14th Century poem ‘Pearl’).

Jane Haynes

The psychotherapist and writer Jane Haynes explores the little known, often unconscious rhetorical device, the ‘anacoluthon sentence’, as used by Proust. Jane Haynes’ autobiography is ‘Who is it that can tell me who I am?’ (Constable). Her exploration of the world of clinical practice ‘Doctors Dissected’ will be published in 2015.
