Nigel Farage predicts his party could hold the balance of power next year, after the first election of a Ukip MP in the seat of Clacton and a close second in Heywood and Middleton.
Anna Foster and Tony Livesey with the day's news and sport. We spent the afternoon in Heywood and Middleton following UKIP's second place in the by-election there. The party have also been celebrating gaining its first elected MP in the by-election in Clacton. The Government stands by plans to introduce screening at airports in the UK as the global death toll from ebola tops four thousand. And we hear the FA's plans to boost grassroots football, including creating football hubs in cities and more artificial pitches.
