VOTE: Do patients need to know their surgeons鈥 death rates?

Performance data for almost 5,000 surgeons in England in a move towards greater transparency. Using the MyNHS website, patients can search for information, including mortality rates for individual specialists. One surgeons鈥 association says publishing such information is 鈥渃rude鈥 and can be misleading. Speciality surgeons also warn聽it could lead to some consultants refusing difficult cases.聽
