Mary Anne talks to heartbreaking Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten about her recently released album 'Are We There', and music as therapy.

Sharon Van Etten's dreams of being a musician were realised by TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone, after she handed him a CD of her songs back in 2005, and he instantly fell in love with her sound.

With her talent and his encouragement, she has since gone on to release four albums - the second of which won the title of 6Music's third best album of the year when it dropped in 2012 - and is now touring the world with her newest collection of songs, breaking hearts, making friends, and spilling out her personal secrets.

Expect stories about journeys (the musical AND emotional kind), plus sweet songs about love, longing and heartbreak. We'll try our best not to make you cry...
