Visit to Northern India
Neil Porteous, Garden Manager at Mount Stewart, writes: "This is Mount Saramati in Nagaland – one of the few places where Rhododendron macabeanum can be found.
"We grow a lot of this Rhododendron at Mount Stewart from Frank Kingdon-Ward’s collections in 1928. It forms dense woodland here near the summit.
"It is right on the border between Burma and India – and is the 113th tallest mountain in the world at 3826m. Charles Forde from Seaforde, Co. Down is pictured with me at the summit."
