The work of the Multiple System Atrophy Trust (MSA Trust)

Multiple System Atrophy Trust is the UK’s main support and information service for people who have multiple system atrophy (MSA) – a rare neurological disease with no known cause or cure that leads to premature death.  As well as helping people who have MSA, we are also there to support families and friends whose lives are affected by MSA as well as the carers and health and care professionals who look after and treat people with the disease. Our vision is a World Free of MSA. We are committed to making this happen by funding research to find the cause of, and one day a cure for, MSA.

Supporting people with MSA

Supporting people with MSA

The MSA Trust is committed to supporting everyone affected by this terrible disease, family members, friends, carers and health professionals.

Our specialist nurses provide advice by telephone, email and they regularly visit our 33 support groups around the country.

Research to find the cause and ultimately cure for MSA

Research to find the cause and ultimately cure for MSA
In 2014 the MSA Trust allocated £150,000 to fund research into the causes of MSA.

Our vision is a world free of MSA and our goal is to find the cause, and one day cure. To achieve this we have recently committed to funding a minimum of £150,000 on research every year and hope, as funding allows, to increase this still further. MSA is an extremely complex disease that is difficult to diagnose and research to find the cause and ultimately a cure may take many years.  However, every research project we fund is one step closer.

Our supporters

Our supporters

Our fantastic members and supporters take on many amazing challenges to fundraise for us.

The MSA Trust relies entirely on voluntary donations from individuals, charitable trusts and corporate organisations. Without such generosity we would be unable to continue our work of supporting people affected by MSA, funding medical research and raising awareness of this rare and devastating disease.

We are constantly amazed at the lengths our supporters go to fundraise on our behalf - marathons, skydives, tractor runs and family days – no feat is too small for them and we are hugely grateful.  Thank you.
