The government has announced it wants to bring in laws forcing the sale of cigarettes in plain packaging. The leader of the German populist group, Pegida, a campaign against the purported Islamisation of the west, has resigned; Lutz Bachmann provoked widespread anger with an online photo showing him with hair in the style of Adolf Hitler.
