Mezzo-soprano Anna Huntley and tenor Robert Murray join James Baillieu and the Heath Quartet in Perth Concert Hall. Janacek: String Quartet No 1; The Diary of One Who Disappeared.

Mezzo soprano Anna Huntley and tenor Robert Murray join James Baillieu and the Heath quartet in Perth concert hall to perform Janacek's chamber music.

Janacek's String quartet No 1 was inspired by Tolstoy's novella The Kreutzer Sonata. He said he was 'imagining a poor woman, tormented and run down' and he wrote it in little over a fortnight. His song-cycle 'The Diary of One who Disappeared' was composed a few years earlier, when Janacek was struck by the story of a young boy's love for a gipsy girl, published in verses at the Lidove Noviny newspaper where he worked as was co-operator.
