#Women6Music - What tracks should be on an all-female playlist?

Tom Robinson asks for suggestions for an all-women playlist to celebrate International Women's Day and honour female achievement in music.

This Sunday (6pm-8pm), to celebrate International Women's Day, Now Playing is honouring female achievement in music.

How lucky are we that this year's IWD falls on a Sunday?!

Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements, ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities through to local women's craft markets, artistic performances, fashion parades and loads more, including MUSIC.

Tom Robinson wants your suggestions for an all-women playlist comprised of songs from any female artist, regardless of genre or era.

You could choose music from icons such as Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, Bjork or PJ Harvey...

Or maybe classic female-fronted indie bands such as Elastica, Sleeper, Echobelly or Portishead...

Inspirational stuff from soul greats such as Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, or Marlena Shaw...

Or anything from newer artists such as Haim, Laura Marling, St Vincent and Nadine Shah.

Its entirely up to you, so get your female-inspired song suggestions - including the reasons why you think an artist deserves a spin - into us by tweeting #Women6Music, comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@6music.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify and Rdio playlists.
