The Somalian community of Cardiff
Cardiff Bay, or Tiger Bay as it was known, was famous. Once bustling with ships exporting coal, it attracted sailors and other workers from all over the world. It was then, in the nineteenth century, that Somalis first came to the city. The community has grown to the extent that Cardiff now has the largest British born Somali population in the UK. And as Angela MacLean reports many still feel a very strong sense of connection with their homeland.
