With Bryan Ferry

Liz Kershaw chats to iconic singer-songwriter and musician Bryan Ferry, who released his fourteenth solo album Avonmore in 2014.

Liz chats to iconic singer, songwriter and musician Bryan Ferry. He released his 14th solo album Avonmore at the end of last year.
He rose to prominence in the 1970's as frontman of enormously successful art rock act Roxy Music. As well as being well respected for their music, they were also renowned for their imagery and style. They released their self titled debut album in 1972 and released a further 7 albums up to 1982's Avalon. The band split in 1983, though they would reunite on numerous occasions for shows. Ferry released his first solo album These Foolish Things in 1973, an album of cover versions, mainly of standards. He continued to use cover versions on his solo albums up to his 4th, In Your Mind, in 1977, his first of all original compositions. His first solo album after the split of Roxy Music, 1985's Boys And Girls, was his most successful and gave him his only number 1. In 2008 Ferry was honoured as a BMI Icon, and in 2011 was made a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Liz also gives listeners the chance to show-off their musical knowledge with themed tune suggestions and chats to a listener about their favourite album in All Killer No Filler, which this week comes from U2.
