Tom is joined by Cologne-based Canadian musician Chilly Gonzales, who curates the After Hour and shares a fascinating insight into how modern music has developed from church music.

Tom is joined by Cologne based Canadian musician Chilly Gonzales who curates The After Hour, the final hour of the show. His music choices range from Aphex Twin to Daft Punk, Michael Nyman to NAS and Gershwin as he dissects forms of music and reveals how modern music links directly to that created by monks from around the 15th century! He recently released his album Chambers, which re-imagines Romantic-era chamber music as contemporary pop, using strings as a sampler.
He's best known for his MC and electronic albums from the late 90s/early 2000s, but more recently has been making albums based on his classical music abilities. He has regularly collaborated with Canadian musicians Peaches, Mocky and Feist, and also with Daft Punk on their most recent album Random Access Memories. On 18 May 2009, he broke a world record for the longest solo-artist performance with a total time of 27 hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds. The new album follows his 2013 album Solo Piano II, which was was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize.
