When a child is taken into care they have often experienced terrible abuse and neglect. Once in care their life is safer, but that’s not the end of the story. Some have a good experience in care, others don’t.  What they all share is the need for extra support beyond what the care system provides  – and that’s where we come in. We help these children heal, grow in self-belief and fulfil their dreams. We offer friendship, emotional support and run workshops to give them life skills they may have missed out on such as cooking, money management and how to do a job application.  We provide a website for children in care and a magazine that informs and inspires them.  We’re about to launch an advice service so we can support many more young people having a tough time. Please help us to give children who have come from the worst starts in life a second chance. Their pasts have been sad - but their futures don’t have to be.

Many young people in care don’t get the help they need to help them work through the legacy of childhood trauma. That’s why we ran the Word Power project to help these children express their feelings through creative writing.

Care leavers can feel abandoned, struggle with confidence and find living on their own difficult – practically and emotionally.  We run residential weekends for young care leavers that give them a sense of community and peer support, as well as helping them build inner resources of strength and resilience.
