Osmo V盲nsk盲 conductor
The LSO's International Violin Festival features Gil Shaham returning to the Barbican under the baton of Finnish conductor Osmo V盲nsk盲. Shaham's stellar international career dates from 1989 when he stepped in at short notice to play with the LSO. Britten's Violin Concerto, premiered in 1940 while the composer was living in the USA, is complemented by Arvo P盲rt's moving tribute to Britten, and a symphony by Britten's friend Shostakovich.
