Studies, Skating and Drowning in Pleasure

Scriabin's years as a student, his first love aged just 15 and the beginnings of his association with timber magnate Mitrofan Belaieff, who helped launch his musical career.

In the month that sees the 100th anniversary of his death, Donald Macleod explores the life and career of the virtuoso pianist and composer Alexander Scriabin (1870-1915) "one of the most enigmatic and controversial and artistic personalities of all time". In Monday's episode, Donald focuses on Scriabin's years as a student, his first love (aged just 15), and the beginnings of his association with the timber magnate Mitrofan Belaieff who helped launch his musical career.
