Rewfus' DriveTime Cocktail Fun
Cocktail supremo Rewfus joined the show yesterday to make us some cracking drinks. Here he is in his own words, letting you know how you can make them yourselves...
Ìý
All Request Friday Cocktail:
125ml Coconut Water
25ml Lime and Ginger Cordial
1 x Lemongrass
5 x Mint Leaves
Ìý
Garnish: Lemongrass Straw (peel a layer off lemongrass stalk and place over straw)
Equipment: 1 x Jam Jar with Lid, 1 x Egg Cup (use to measure, one cup is roughly 25ml), 1 x Sieve
Method: Drop five mint leaves into the base of your glass, smash open your lemongrass and using your egg cup to measure place all ingredients minus the mint into your ice filled jam jar. Now it’s time to get shaking. Make sure you give it a good shake, you want the jam jar to feel really cold (twenty shakes is usually about right). Now that you’ve worked up a sweat it’s time to pour the mix into your glass. Fill your glass with ice (fill it up with ice all the way to the top, the more ice you have the less your drink will dilute). Hold your sieve over the glass and pour jam jar over your glass, discard contents, drop your lemongrass straw in, sit back and relax.
Ìý
Confession Cocktail:
50ml Gin
20ml Homemade Lime Cordial
Ìý
Garnish: Lime Wheel
Equipment: 1 x Jam Jar with Lid, 1 x Egg Cup (use to measure, one cup is roughly 25ml), 1 x Sieve
Method: This drink is really easy to make and really tasty. Place all ingredients into your ice filled jam jar and shake, shake, shake. This time you’re not going to fill your glass with ice, you’re gonna shake real hard to super chill your drink so much so that it doesn’t need ice. When you think it’s ready, hold your sieve over the glass and empty your jam jar, discard contents, drop your lime wheel into the glass and enjoy. Be careful, three and you’re under the table, four and you’ll be confessing all your sins! Try it with Rum or Vodka for a whole new experience. Please drink responsibly.
Taking it to the next level: If you can’t be bothered to make your own lime cordial then grabbing some from the shops is just fine, if you do fancy doing it The 43 Club style then here is how you can make your own lime cordial (trust us, it’s well worth the effort):
Ìý
Homemade Lime Cordial:
500ml Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice (about 25 Limes)
300ml Agave Nectar
20 x Kaffir Lime Leaves
2 x Lemongrass
1 x Lime Zest
Ìý
Equipment: 1 x Stove, 1 x Pot, 1 x Sieve
Method: Add all ingredients to a pot and bring to boil, you can add some lime zest for extra tang, once bought to a boil reduce to a simmer and keep it there for 30minutes. Sieve out the liquid into a bowl and allow to cool. Bottle and keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, if you add 25ml vodka to the mix then it will keep for one month. Please note, this will be extremely hot so be careful.
