Verdi: Messa da Requiem

Live from the Lighthouse in Poole, a performance of Verdi's Requiem, with leading soloists joining the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Orchestra under Kirill Karabits.

Verdi: Messa da Requiem

Kirill Karabits conducts his Bournemouth forces in Verdi's Requiem. From the hushed opening via the tumult of the Dies irae to the blazing trumpets of the Tuba mirum, Verdi invests his setting of the Requiem Mass with all of his instinctive dramatic genius. The work is not just one of the most theatrical pieces of music ever written but one of the most emotionally sincere.
Presented by Martin Handley live from the Lighthouse in Poole.
