Verb regular Kevin Jackson is the author of ‘Invisible Forms’ (Picador), a book about literary curiosities. For our series celebrating footnotes Kevin has written a dialogue tracing the history of the footnote through literature. Kevin’s dialogue gives the humble footnote a voice and personality. He tells us about the way the footnote’s personality has evolved.

The singer-songwriter Kathryn William’s new album ‘Hypoxia’ (One Little Indian) is inspired by Sylvia Plath’s ‘The Bell Jar’. She explains how she went about responding to Plath’s writing, and why the ‘mirror’ became such an important image on the album. Kathryn hadn’t read The Bell Jar since she was a teenager, and on returning to the book she was struck by Plath’s ‘visceral’ prose. Kathryn Williams will be touring with Hypoxia this summer.

The poet Steve Ely’s first book ‘Oswald's Book of Hours’ was nominated for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection in 2013. He’s just published his second collection, ‘Englaland’ (Smokestack), which aims to uncover hidden Englishnesses in his native Yorkshire landscape.

László Krasznahorkai is the winner of the 2015 Man International Booker Prize for Fiction. He explains the genesis of his famous long sentences, how his writing is informed by music and his love for the Romanian aphorist EM Cioran. The latest book by  Krasznahorkai to be translated into English is Seiobo There Below (Tuskar Rock)
