A team of scientists from the University of Manchester say they have identified Britain's oldest sauropod dinosaur from a fossil bone discovered on the North Yorkshire coast, nicknamed 鈥楢lan鈥�.聽 The backbone originates from a group of dinosaurs that includes the largest land animals to have ever walked on Earth. It represents the earliest skeletal record of this type of dinosaur from the UK. Professor Phil Manning is from the University of Manchester.

The health secretary Jeremy Hunt says he plans to clampdown on "rip-off staffing agencies" which charge the NHS in England high rates for temporary doctors and nurses. The Department of Health wants to set a maximum hourly rate for agency doctors and nurses and cap the amount NHS Trusts can spend if they are in financial difficulty. It's three years since the journalist Michael Scott Moore went to Somalia for what was meant to be a short trip to research a story on one of the notorious pirate gangs. Instead he ended up as one of their victims and spent almost a thousand days in captivity. He was eventually released when a ransom of a million pounds was paid to the pirates. We hear from him.

The UN says more than 6,400 people have died in the fighting between Ukrainian forces and rebels backed by Russia and more than a million have lost their homes. On the international scene, relations between the west and Russia are the worst they've been since the end of the Cold War. His most famous was a wonderful drawing of William Pitt the Younger sitting at a dining table with Napoleon and carving up a plum pudding representing a map of the world. Foreign Ministers from 20 countries are expected to meet in France later today, to discuss the fight against Islamic State militants in the Middle East, among them the British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond. They're due to discuss the coalition's military strategy in Iraq and Syria, weeks after the group won control of the central Iraqi city of Ramadi. US scientists say they have found seven sawfish in south-west Florida that are the product of virgin births. This type of abnormal reproduction has been observed in captivity, but virgin-born offspring have never been seen in the wild before. The discovery, published in the journal Current Biology, suggests this behaviour may be a natural response to dwindling numbers. Andrew Fields is lead author of the study.
