A tribute to Rory Gallagher

Chris Hawkins presents Rory Gallagher live at Middlesex Polytechnic in 1978 to mark 20 years since his premature death.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the premature death (aged just 47) of the influential Irish guitarist, singer and songwriter Rory Gallagher, Chris Hawkins presents a concert recorded at Middlesex Polytechnic in 1978. This was around the time of Rory's seventh studio album, 'Photo-Finish', which was a turning-point in his career, as he reverted to performing as part of a power trio.

Rory was always greatly respected by his peers. The Rolling Stones wanted him to replace Mick Taylor and Jimi Hendrix is reported to have shrugged off a question about what it was like to be greatest guitarist in the world with the words, "I don't know. Go ask Rory Gallagher".
