Hundreds of staff from the ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) have begun industrial action that is causing three days of ferry disruption across the west coast. The crews want reassurances about future jobs, pay and pensions now that the company's routes have been opened to competitive tender. Around two thirds of journeys are expected not to run as scheduled, which will cause considerable disruption to passengers just as schools in Scotland are about to break up for the summer holidays. Pharmacists say there's a huge amount of confusion over sunscreen labelling. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is calling for one easy-to-understand rating, which reflects the total amount of sun protection offered. In an online survey of just over two thousand people carried out by YouGov, fewer than one in ten was aware that the sun protection factor only measured protection from ultraviolet B rays, and not from ultraviolet A rays which can also be harmful. Prof Jayne Lawrence is Chief Scientist for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

In Brussels there were some very grim faces as the summit finally ended at around three in the morning -- things had not gone according to plan and the strain was obvious. Justin Webb reports.

The retrial in Egypt of three journalists who work for Al Jazeera English has been adjourned until Monday. Peter Greste and two of his colleagues are accused of terrorism related offences for which they spent more than 400 days in prison before the retrial was ordered. Peter Greste will not be in the court on Monday. A former 大象传媒 journalist - he is now back at his home in Sydney after being deported under a presidential order.

Any day now we'll find out the recommendation of Sir Howard Davies' Airports Commission on how to expand airport capacity in south east England. The commission has been looking at three options -- build new runways at Heathrow or Gatwick or expand the existing north runway at Heathrow. Yesterday we heard the views of local residents and business people on the Gatwick option. Today our reporter Dan Whitworth hears from people living and working near Heathrow.

European leaders have agreed to relocate tens of thousands of migrants who have arrived in Italy and Greece. The European Council president, Donald Tusk, said they would be moved to other EU states over the next two years. The announcement came after the first day of an EU summit which went on until the early hours of the morning. Peter Sutherland is the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for International Migration and Development.

The Telegraph newspaper is reporting the Government plans to scrap the 大象传媒 Trust and hand oversight of the 大象传媒 to the communications regulator Ofcom. The story is attributed to sources inside Westminster. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport said ministers were still considering a range of options for renewing the 大象传媒 Charter in 2016. Stewart Purvis used to be editor in chief at ITN and then worked at Ofcom.

When talks resume between Iran and the West over Iran's nuclear programme next week, they will focus attention on Tehran's growing ambitions to be seen as a regional power. In Syria, Iran backs Hezbollah fighters on the side of President Assad, in Yemen it supports the Houthi rebels, while in Iraq it backs the Shia militias fighting for the government in Baghdad. But how do the Arab states of the Middle East view Iran's growing regional influence? Our Middle East Correspondent, Kevin Connolly, went to Beirut to investigate.

EU leaders holding late-night talks in Brussels have agreed to relocate tens of thousands of migrants who have arrived in Italy and Greece. Also on the agenda was the Greek debt crisis: Greece and its international creditors remain deadlocked after talks on Thursday. 听And UK PM David Cameron says he is delighted the process of "reform and renegotiation" of the UK's membership of the EU is "properly under way". The actor, Patrick Macnee, best known for playing John Steed in The Avengers, died at his home in California yesterday. He was 93. Sir Roger Moore said he had "happy memories" of working with him, saying he was "a true gent". His character Steed was a quintessential Englishman, whose weapons of choice in his battles with criminal masterminds were his wits and his umbrella - never a gun. Linda Thorson starred with Macnee in The Avengers in the late 1960s.

The shocking images over the last few days of migrants fighting with police and truck drivers in Calais or hanging from lorries bound for Britain prompt the question why are they so determined to get here?听 Despite already having made it to France, and often other European countries before that, refugees continue to risk life and limb to get to the UK. All of which begs another question, was it worth it for those who finally made it? Did the country they risked so much to get to live up to their expectations? Official population statistics released yesterday have shown two things - there are almost half a million more of us - and we're getting significantly older.听 The median age of the population - the age at which half the population is younger and half the population is older - in mid-2014 was 40 years, the highest ever estimated. And that's reflected in some perhaps unlikely places, the average age of a festival goer is now 33. Demographer Julia Margo is CEO of the Family and Childcare Trust.
