Dame Evelyn Glennie鈥檚 musical career has spanned more than thirty years. Profoundly deaf since the age of 12, she was the first person in history to have a full time career as a solo percussionist.聽She has recently been awarded the 2015 Polar Music prize, which is considered the music industry鈥檚 equivalent of the Nobel Prize. She will be returning to the Proms with a special concert in August that will also mark her fiftieth birthday.

Revised guidelines to provide clarity on the clinical care of women with female genital mutilation (FGM) are published today by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. It's the first time they've been updated since 2009.聽We speak to one of the authors of the new guidelines, Professor Sarah Creighton, consultant gynaecologist at University College Hospital London and to Naana Otoo-Oyortey MBE, Executive Director of the FGM聽charity FORWARD.
