Script

Good morning. My wife and I own a very old camper van, and for the past number of weeks it has been giving some real trouble. I won鈥檛 bore you with the mechanical details, but suffice to say, the touring holiday we had planned to Shetland and Orkney was in serious jeopardy. First the van would start and run sweetly, then it would sound like a bag of spanners. It would accelerate well, then it would die completely. There appeared to be no rational explanation. The two mechanics in the local garage were fast becoming good friends of ours as we saw each other more and more frequently. Still unsure that the matter had been fully resolved, we set off for the ferry and our journey across Scotland. We broke down of course, not once but twice on our way to the northern isles - but eventually arrived in Shetland, where our first task was to find a friendly local garage. I want to say to Matthew and his colleagues in the garage in Scalloway, 鈥淭hank you for a wonderful holiday鈥. Uncluttered by months of confused debate, Matthew identified the problem and had it fixed in a moment - and off we went for a trouble free two weeks in a beautiful part of the world. Sometimes, a fresh pair of eyes can be a help. Whatever you face today, don鈥檛 be slow to take wisdom wherever you find it, even if it comes from someone new, or unexpected.
Lord God thank you for the wisdom we receive each day, and for the ways it comes to us. May it be that today is a day when fresh eyes on an old problem bring new light. Amen.
