Suzi Perry and Murray Walker introduce highlights from three classic Grand Prix races involving Michael Schumacher. The 1994 British Grand Prix was full of controversy as Schumacher did all he could to wrestle the initiative from pole-sitter Damon Hill, including illegally passing him on the formation lap. Hill eventually won the battle of wills to claim a popular and emotional first home Grand Prix victory - a race his late father Graham never won.
The conclusion of the 1994 season in Australia is part of sporting folklore. Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher collided in the final race shortly after the German had damaged his own car irreparably. Hill was forced to retire, Schumacher won his first world title and the debate rages on as to whether the crash was a genuine racing accident or an act of pure gamesmanship.
1996 was Michael Schumacher's debut campaign as a Ferrari driver and it was initially dogged by technical difficulties. His maiden win for the Tifosi came at the seventh time of asking in Spain. A poor start in the rain saw him slip to sixth, yet he recovered majestically to claim victory by 45 seconds in a race regarded by many as his finest drive.
