Mick, Tina and Shirley head to Ramsgate. Lee finds himself in hot water with his boss. Kim leaves Denise and Vincent to look after Pearl, but can they stop arguing?
Shirley, Tina and Mick arrive at Babe’s caravan, riled. Shirley bangs on the door but there’s no answer. Tina finds an open window and clambers in. Tina stumbles across an old scrap book which contains taped in photos of young girls. Babe arrives back and questions what the trio are up to; Shirley states that they’ve come for Stan – where is he? Babe initially denies stealing Stan’s ashes but soon cracks. Shirley ushers Tina and Mick outside; she’s got this. Alone with Babe, Shirley tells her that she’s not here to argue, just to say goodbye to Stan. Babe comes clean – she’s stuck in her caravan because she lost her house. Babe attempts to explain her reasoning for taking Stan’s ashes – she loved him all her life and wanted to say goodbye properly.
As Shirley opens a cupboard to make tea, she clocks a custard powder tin and instantly knows its Stan. With the tin in hand, Shirley cruelly informs Babe that their heart to heart wasn’t genuine. A pleading Babe begs for the trio not to leave her – but Shirley coldly tells her that she doesn’t deserve a family. Tina suggests that they hear Babe out – what harm can it do? By the sea, Babe explains that Mick was never meant to come home with the Carters – she took a long time to find the right couple to take care of him. When Shirley questions where Babe found the couple, Babe informs her it was through Queenie Trott. Babe admits that she told the couple that Mick died, she saw the way Shirley was with Mick and knew he needed to be with his family.
Tina follows Shirley outside who explains she’s heading off to get some answers; something doesn’t make sense. Back in the caravan, Shirley retrieves Babe’s scrap book and checks the back of the young girls’ photos – they all have dates on. When she stumbles across a photo of herself, she begins to join the dots. As Babe, Mick and Tina arrive back, Shirley confronts Babe with the scrapbook. Shirley explains that she knows the dates listed are the girls’ due dates and accuses Babe and Queenie of taking their babies and giving them away...
In the café, Sergeant Major Wallace suggests to Lee that it might be good for him to talk things over with a counsellor. When Lee purports that he won’t be able to make his meeting with his CO that afternoon, Wallace indicates that this could lead to disciplinary procedures. As Lee arrives back to the Vic, Whitney laments her struggle with finding an ideal job. Lee begs Linda to squeeze Whitney in for a few Vic shifts - Linda agrees to see what she can do. Whitney finds Lee sat alone in the park and questions why he’s not at work; Lee badly covers and suggests there was a mix up with shifts.
An agitated Denise tells Vincent that Patrick won’t be impressed with him tracking down his band’s old record. When Vincent suggests that Denise chills out, Denise snatches the record off of the turntable, scratching it. Denise informs Vincent that she is disbelieving of his good father act. Vincent explains the difficulties he had with his own father not being around; he never wants Pearl to feel that way. Later, Denise suggests that she’ll help Vincent try and replace the record – when he talked about his dad, it struck a chord. Denise explains that one of the Five Hectors was her dad; she doesn’t know which one and it was too painful to find out once it was confirmed that it wasn’t Patrick. Later, Denise hands Patrick the record; he’s thrilled with it.
Masood goes to see Carmel and fills her in – Shabnam’s heading to the airport straight after Zaair’s funeral. Carmel purports that it’s for the best, she doesn’t want to see Kush hurting anymore. Masood reminds Carmel that the pair burying their child is going to be the hardest thing they ever do; they should be together for it. Masood is empathetic to Carmel’s concerns but pushes on. Later, as Masood and Shabnam get into separate vehicles, Masood climbs in with Kush, whilst Carmel gets into Shabnam’s car. Masood and Carmel counsel Kush and Shabnam with an attempt to explain each’s behaviour.
Carmel begs Shabnam to think about Zaair – running away won’t allow her to mourn him properly. Masood assures Kush that he can do this – he should let this bad situation bring him and Shabnam together, not tear them apart. Shabnam and Kush reconcile, Kush promises he’ll be right there with her. That evening, Carmel heads over to Masood’s and informs him that she’s moving back to Essex.
