When Phyllis Whitsell discovered her birth mother was alive and a well-known local alcoholic with mental health problems, she nursed her for years without revealing her identity.

Phyllis Whitsell was put into care as a baby and lived much of her life believing her mother was dead. As an adult, she discovered her birth mother was not only alive but was a well-known local alcoholic with mental health problems. Working as a district nurse Phyllis added her mum to her weekly rounds without telling anyone. She tells us her story. Also today, we hear from the head of MI5 about the UK terror threat, which he thinks is at its highest level in his 32 year career. And what's the future for the Church of England? The Archbishop of Canterbury has invited the leaders of the Anglican church around the world to a meeting in January to discuss how divisions over issues such as female priests and same-sex relationships could be dealt with.
