Simon Armitage

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie are joined by poet and playwright Simon Armitage.

Mark and Stuart are here again! Shaking their collective tail feathers with some top Friday tunes and top guest, poet Simon Armitage. He's adapted Homer's The Odyssey for the stage, and this production reunites Simon with Associate Director of Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Nick Bagnall after their recent collaborations on The Last Days of Troy and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Having recently been appointed Oxford Professor of Poetry, Simon Armitage has published nine volumes of poetry, most recently Walking Away, Seeing Stars, Tyrannosaurus Rex Versus the Corduroy Kid and The Not Dead. He has won numerous awards and prizes and been shortlisted for the Whitbread Poetry Prize and the T.S. Eliot Prize, and his 2012 non-fiction book Walking Home - an account of his troubadour journey along the Pennine Way - was a Sunday Times best-seller and was shortlisted for the 2012 Portico Prize.

AND you, yes YOU could get a chance to get your dulcet tones on the actual 6 Music airwaves in the never-ending Chain feature - and who will be first to guess the Teatime Themetime link today? Will it be Brian in Accounts or that one near the photocopier who never makes the tea? YOU DECIDE.
