Mark Stephen and Euan McIlwraith follow the Forth River from the source at Loch Ard in the Trossachs to the very top of the new Forth Crossing.

Mark and Euan follow the Forth River from the source at Loch Ard in the Trossachs to the very top of the new Forth Crossing. It's a journey following the industrial heritage of one of Scotland's most important rivers.

They begin in Canadian canoes on the tranquil Loch Ard and head to the start of the river. Then to Aberfoyle in search of the Poker Tree. Mark takes a dip in the dark waters at the Lemahamish Pool. And then down to Flanders Moss Nature Reserve in the Carse of Stirling.

Day two begins at the tidal reaches of the Forth near Stirling where they see salmon jumping in the mist. Then down to the Black Devon Nature Reserve where a former landfill site is being transformed into a marshland habitat. And then it's onto the bikes at Kincardine and following the Fife Coastal Path to Culross and the beautiful garden at the palace there. A quick stop at Charleston to see the former limekilns and finally to North Queensferry.
