Liz chats to Alison Moyet, former singer with 80's synth pop act Yazoo. Her 3 solo albums from the early 2000s, Hometime, Voice and The Turn, have just been re-issued.
Yazoo formed in 1981 after Vince Clarke left Depeche Mode and found Alison through an advert. They release 2 very successful albums in 1982 and 1983 before splitting just as the 2nd album You And Me Both was released. Their combination of stark electronics with soulful vocals is cited as a big influence on the house music scene.
Alison has subsequently enjoyed a successful solo career. The 3 re-issued albums are from her comeback after an 8 year hiatus, which was due to record company difficulties.
Liz also gives listeners the chance to show-off their musical knowledge with themed tune suggestions and chats to a listener about their favourite album in All Killer No Filler, which comes from Frank Zappa.
