John Doran from The Quietus un-coil's the complex 20 year history of British avant-garde group Coil which covered transgressive psychedelia, neo-folk, European industrial music and deep house. Formed by visionary poet John Balance and his partner Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson a videographer and musician in the early 1980's, Coil never shied away from embracing dark and brutal themes intensified by experiments with drugs and a dependency on alcohol which ultimately led to their demise.
