Recorded with Boxed In's Oli Bayston and Ibibio Sound System's Leon Brichard, La Vie Est Belle is Yannick Ilunga's first album. Out now on Domino, the record is a remarkably confident and idiosyncratic statement of intent from an artist who cites Mos Def, Fela Kuti and Tabu Ley as key influences. Now residing in London, Ilunga draws on the rich musical history of his ancestry - part Congolese, part Angolan - to create a truly original sound.
