Episode 8
Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace search for the country's next culinary superstar. The chefs must make a lobster and salmon ravioli in the skills test.
The hunt for the champion continues as six new chefs set out to prove they are serious contenders for the Professional MasterChef title. They have two chances to win over the judges - first in the notorious skills test and then in the signature dish challenge.
In this heat, the first three chefs must prove their talent in a skills test set by Marcus. They have just twenty minutes to make a lobster and salmon ravioli and serve it with a lobster sauce. To deliver, they will need to move fast and keep their cool, as all three MasterChef judges examine their every move. The next three chefs are set a skills test by Monica. She tests their butchery skills to their limits when she gives them fifteen minutes to debone a pig's trotter and stuff it ready for cooking. With many chefs unfamiliar with this cut of meat, they need to put their shock aside and draw on their chef's knowledge and training to get the job done.
Finally, the six chefs come together in the MasterChef kitchen to complete the signature dish round. This is their chance to show what their cooking is all about with a recipe of their own design. It is also their last hope of impressing Monica, Marcus and Gregg before three chefs leave the competition. Only the three most talented chefs will make it through to the quarter-final and continue on in the battle to lift the Professional MasterChef title.
