Episode 15
Knockout week of the culinary competition. The chefs travel to Lord's Cricket Ground, where they cook a three-course menu for ex-England captain Mike Gatting and guests.
It is knockout week and Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace continue their search for the country's next culinary superstar.
In this episode, the second group of five chefs face two tough tests. First, they must work together as a team to cook a three-course lunch for five important guests, before returning to the MasterChef kitchen to work as individuals once again and battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.
In their first challenge, the chefs travel to Lord's Cricket Ground in north London, where Marcus and Monica set them the task of cooking a three-course fine-dining menu for ex-England captain Mike Gatting and four of his guests. Not only must they work as a team to come up with perfectly executed dishes worthy of the occasion, but they must also take into account the long journey from the kitchen at the top of the stands to the famous Lord's Pavilion where the lunch is served.
The chefs are given mackerel, rabbit, apples and pears around which to build their menu. The judges will be watching how they work as a team to plan, execute and transport their dishes. The pressure is on for them to come together and deliver a lunch worthy of the world-famous surroundings and of the celebrated guests.
With the team challenge done, the five chefs return to the MasterChef kitchen where they must set their friendships aside and cook as individuals again. Just 90 minutes and one show-stopping dish is all that stands between them and a place in the semi-finals. Any mistake could cost them their future because after tasting all five dishes, Monica and Marcus decide whose time in the competition is finally up. Only the very best chefs will go on to semi-finals week and keep alive their dream of being crowned Professional MasterChef 2015.
