It's finals week. After the toughest of all invention tests using scraps, the contenders then cook for their idols at the prestigious gathering of modern gastronomic heavyweights.
It's finals week on Professional MasterChef. Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace reach the final stages of their search for the country's brightest new culinary star.
Five exceptional chefs have made it through to finals week and now the fight truly begins. Over the next three nights, massive gastronomic adventures lie ahead. In this show, the finalists battle for the once in a lifetime opportunity to cook for their heroes at the legendary chefs' table. Only the four strongest chefs will get this chance, because after the opening cook-off, the weakest will be sent home.
Marcus, Monica and Gregg begin by setting the chefs one of the toughest invention tests in the book. In an hour and 15 minutes, the chefs must create a jaw-dropping dish out of scraps. After the judges have tasted the dishes, one chef will leave the competition.
Next, the remaining four chefs cook at one of the most prestigious events in the culinary calendar, as 22 heavyweights of modern gastronomy arrive in the city of London for a unique dinner. This annual event is the only time many of the world's great Michelin-starred chefs come together, and it is a rare opportunity for the finalists to showcase their own food to their idols. Guests this year include the Michelin-starred chefs Clare Smyth MBE, Jocelyn Herland and Michael Caines MBE.
Each finalist is in charge of one of the menu's four courses - starter, fish, main and dessert. Over five tense hours in the kitchen, they must work alone to prepare every single element of their ambitious dishes. With the diners holding an incredible 29 Michelin stars between them, the finalists' plates of food could make or break their careers, and their chances of winning the Professional MasterChef title.
