Dean Burnett
Adam Walton visits Cardiff University's Heath Park campus to meet neuroscientist, blogger and comedian Dean Burnett. Dean's new book "The Idiot Brain: A Neuroscientist Explains What Your Head Is Really Up To" is published on the 18th February by Guardian Faber.
From a school boy in Pontycymer, to a university student in Cardiff, Dean tells Adam the story of his fascination with the human brain, and聽how the comedy mind set can help with communicating science.
In his new book, Dean explores our "idiot brain" - the messy, fallible and disorganised brain that influences everything we say and do. From stress to mental illness, Dean explains that he wants the book to "puncture the mystique of the brain" and help us understand its quirks and imperfections.
We also hear about Dean's day job - he is course tutor on the world's only online MSc course in psychiatry, which attracts students from across the globe.
