Mark Radcliffe presents the show solo today, and his guest is singer, guitarist, writer and TV presenter Brix Smith Start. She was born in LA as Laura Elisse Salenger, but changed her name to Brix after the 1980 Clash song, The Guns of Brixton. She also married The Fall's Mark E Smith and joined the band in 1983. She was also in Courtney Love's band Hole for a day (!), toured with The Bangles, and now runs a fashion boutique with her husband Philip Smart. She's here to talk in more detail about her memoirs.
