A lot can happen in 24 Hours. Adele Roberts hears three stories of young people facing a landmark day in their careers. In each of these stories, holding your nerve can mean the difference between success or failure.

Genevieve Rolleston-Smith is a trainee helicopter pilot at the Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury. Today is a crucial day in her training. She'll be taking a pre-solo flight check in a simulator. She'll have to negotiate emergencies, including hydraulics failure. If she's successful, she can fly solo in a helicopter for the first time and will be well on the way to getting her wings. But if things don't go to plan, she may have to retrain and her future in the RAF could be in jeopardy.

Next, Adele meets Jack Laugher and Chris Mears. They're two divers from Leeds hoping to represent the country at this summer's Olympics. But before they can reach Rio, they need to secure their place on Team GB by winning a medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia. Jack and Chris, who compete together in synchro, are totally reliant on each other to execute their dives in perfect precision. After a difficult year of injury, can they do enough to qualify?

Christopher Macarthur Boyd is an emerging stand-up comedian from Glasgow. In 2014 he reached the finals of nationwide talent search So You Think You're Funny. He's now been given his debut show at the Edinburgh Fringe called Fresh Blood. Tonight is opening night and he's feeling the pressure. Can he conquer his nerves to deliver a hilarious set?

Along the way, Adele hears how Genevieve, Chris, Jack and Christopher control their nerves and manage their adrenaline to face potentially life-changing challenges.
