Good morning. Each morning I have the joy of drawing back the curtains to see Gloucester cathedral. It has stood there for over 900 hundred years and it鈥檚 a glorious symbol of constancy in a city which has seen so much change.

Later today the daily activity of people鈥檚 lives will go on around the cathedral and within it. There will be those who enter as intentional tourists, as well as those seeking solace amidst pain, confusion and loss; or those entering in a place of celebration. Outside there will be teenagers gathering in groups on the grass; or children playing hide and seek around the walls; And all day people will pass by going about their daily business.

Amidst all of this activity - its joy, its pain and its uncertainty, the Cathedral clock will chime: on the hour and every 15 minutes in between. For me that sound is gift.
And it鈥檚 gift because it is an ongoing reminder to me of the constancy of God鈥檚 love and hope.

That clock will chime on time regardless of what is going on within my life and the lives of those people within and around the cathedral.

Whatever is going on across our world in places of beauty and places of brokenness, that clock will still chime. Easter day has happened. Jesus Christ is risen. And God鈥檚 love and hope are unchanging.

Gracious God, amidst the thoughts, emotions and activity of this day, may we know that nothing can change your unchanging love. Amen
