5 live follows three junior doctors with audio diaries of their work, plus the real difficulties and dilemmas they face every day.

In this programme we meet junior doctors, Andrew, Habiba and Jeremy. They talk about their lives on shift, dealing with emergencies, serious illness and even death. Their patients range from very sick children, to adults facing diagnoses of terminal cancer, as well as elderly patients at the end of their lives.

We hear how they cope with the pressures of working in a busy NHS, dealing with their emotions and striving to help people in sometimes impossible situations. They explain what motivates them to make the sacrifices necessary to be doctors. Plus we get an insight into how their jobs affect their personal lives and relationships.
