The presumptive Republican candidate for President, Donald Trump, has met one of the party's most senior members in an attempt to unify the party. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan described the meeting as "encouraging"; despite saying he was not ready to endorse him just a week ago. Peter Wehner was a director of the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives under President George W. Bush.

Brazil's new interim President Michel Temer has addressed the nation after the Senate voted to back the impeachment trial of Dilma Rousseff. Former President Dilma Rousseff denounced her removal as a "farce" and "sabotage". Alan Charlton is former British ambassador to Brazil (2008 to 2013).

Last year more than 14 hundred children who identified themselves as transgender were referred to the Gender Identity Development Service at the Tavistock Clinic in North West London. Now the Director, Dr Polly Carmichael, says children are starting to live in their preferred gender at an earlier age. Jack Drescher is clinical professor of psychiatry at New York Medical College.

A House of Lords Committee has criticised the EU's efforts to combat migrant smuggling in the Mediterranean, saying it's incapable of achieving its aims. Operation Sophia was set up to disrupt the operations of people smugglers, but the House of Lords European Union Committee says there's little prospect of this happening.
