Thirteen of Britain's leading scientists have given a warning that a vote to leave the EU would put research funding for UK science at risk. The Vote Leave campaign said money for research came from Britain's contribution to the EU, not a magical money tree in Brussels. 大象传媒鈥檚 political correspondent Chris Mason reports.

Police in Marseille deployed tear gas for the second evening last night to disperse England fans gathered ahead of the Euro 2016 football championships. Officers in riot gear clashed with fans who threw bottles at police in the streets of the Old Port district. The fresh clashes in Marseille took place outside a pub in the same area that had been affected by trouble on Thursday. One England fan and one local man were arrested in the early hours of Friday after police had moved in with tear gas. England plays Russia this evening in the first of their Euro 2016 matches. This week Health Minister Jane Ellison announced that NICE would carry out an evidence review into providing an HIV prevention treatment known as PrEP, and a said a two-year pilot programme is being planned. She is being urged to give NHS England the power to commission the drug which could be a 鈥済ame changer鈥� in stopping the spread of HIV. If taken by HIV-negative people, it can cut the risk of HIV infection in people who are high risk by more than 90%. More than a million people have signed a petition in the United States demanding the removal of a judge seen as giving an unduly lenient sentence in a notorious case of sexual assault. The attacker, Brock Turner, was sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting an unconscious woman at Stanford University. Prosecutors had called for him to be jailed for 6 years. We have been speaking to 大象传媒鈥檚 correspondent Peter Bowes and speaking live on the programme is professor of law at Stanford University who has launched the recall campaign against the judge, Michele Landis Dauber.

Britain鈥檚 leading Universities are admitting very low numbers of students from the poorest areas of the UK, institution-by-institution data released for the first time by UCAS showed this week. Poor candidates are seven times less likely to be offered a place than wealthy candidates at the UK鈥檚 best universities, and black applicants are half as likely. Even allowing for their grades and choice of degree, students from these backgrounds simply don鈥檛 get the offers for universities that many wealthier students have greater access to. Speaking live in the programme is head of UK student recruitment at Bristol University, Lucy Collins and Professor Les Ebdon, Director of Fair Access to Higher Education.

England and Wales play their first group matches at the European Championship in France later today. The tournament began last night under the shadow of the Paris Terror attacks, with high security with both the US and British government鈥檚 warning fans could be at risk. More than 90,000 police, soldiers and private guards will be deployed at the tournament, with seven million fans expected to visit the 10 host venues. Speaking live in the studio is Geoff Pearson, a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law at Manchester University and studies football hooliganism and Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate, Jean-Paul Laborde.

Veteran singer Rod Stewart and orbiting British astronaut Tim Peake are among 1,149 people to be acclaimed in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. Other well-known faces to be honoured include Forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn, TV duo Ant and Dec, actor Brian Blessed and actress Penelope Wilton. A string of stars from the sporting world were also recognised for their achievements, with record-breaking England cricket captain Alastair Cook and former England football skipper Alan Shearer receiving CBEs for their services to cricket and charity, respectively.
