New figures suggest the internet is being used by people across England and Wales to commit eight sexual offences every day. The children's charity, the NSPCC, obtained the data after submitting a Freedom of Information Act request to police forces. The Cambridge historian, and author of "The New Worlds of Thomas Robert Malthus" Alison Bashford, thinks Malthus should be re-read. An argument from the Remain campaign is that a vote for Brexit would decimate the City, sending jobs and banks to cities like Paris or Frankfurt. Anyone who has read Frederick Forsyth's thriller "The Day of the Jackal" - or seen the film - will know how the main character took the identity of a dead child. In recent years it has emerged that this was a tactic adopted by some undercover officers in this country.
