Now (2016)

Newsnight journalist Secunder Kermani investigates the impact of the 2011 riots, five years on.

In August 2011, several days of violence, arson and looting brought England to a standstill. Five people died and hundreds were injured. Starting in North London, after the fallout from the death of Mark Duggan, trouble quickly spread across the capital and to communities across the country.

In the second of two programmes marking their fifth anniversary, Newsnight journalist Secunder Kermani investigates the impact of the 2011 riots on his local area of Clapham Junction in South London. From owners of the businesses looted and vandalised, to teenagers whose lives were changed forever by time spent in prison. Secunder hears previously untold accounts of the worst riots in a generation and asks what has changed individuals on the front-line of the violence.
