More about the programme:
In the last in the current series, Phil Rickman explores the sinister side of home life in a programme devoted to new writing by contemporary Welsh authors.
Rebecca Griffiths from Llandovery makes her debut with The Primrose Path, in which a young woman moves to rural Wales to escape from one threat, only to find herself living next door to an even greater one.
A pleasant Cornish seaside fishing village is the setting for Laura Powell’s first published novel. Originally from Cardiff, but now writing for the Daily Telegraph in London, Laura has set her novel The Unforgotten (no connection with the TV series of the same name!) in two time periods: the 1950s and 50 years later. This is a haunting tale of unrequited love against the background of a murder investigation.
Plus, Shelfstarters – the occasional feature in which listeners offer a sample of their writing for critical appraisal at the hands of an experienced publisher. This week: New Pews for Sunday, a curious tale of a Valleys church and its haunted pews. Is it publishable? Veteran publisher Jo Fletcher offers her verdict.
