Barrister Rob Rinder looks at juvenile law, and considers the age of criminal responsibility in the UK. Guests include Laura Janes, Shauneen Lambe and Suleman Amad.
In today's episode of Raising The Bar barrister Rob Rinder looks at juvenile law, and the law relating to young people.
In this programme, Rob and his guests consider the age of criminal responsibility right here in the UK, and compare this to countries such as Sweden where you cannot be convicted of a crime until you are 18.
Are we dealing with juvenile crime correctly? How can we do better for young people in our communities?
They also examine case studies where lawyers and campaigners have fought for alternative ways to punish young people.
Guests include Laura Janes, Legal Director of the Howard League for Prison Reform; Shauneen Lambe, who has defended young people on death row; and Suleman Amad, a former young offender now consultant on the criminal justice system.
