6 Music Live

Lauren Laverne has a special performance from Michael Kiwanuka at Maida Vale for 6 Music Live.

Michael Kiwanuka performs a very special set for his Maida Vale appearance at 6 Music Live. Michael performed in our Live Room for 6 Music Recommends Day in June, but is taking the setup to another level for this concert. Having released his 2nd album 'Love & Hate' on Polydor Records in July, for which he received a Mercury nomination, he's been on the road finessing the live sound, ahead of his headline tour in October.

There are gigs throughout the day on 6 Music with live music from Shaun at Breakfast to Marc Riley in the evening. 6 Music Live showcases the music we love from artists whose passion and flair embodies our alternative spirit. Bands also performing live on the day include Pixies, Super Furry Animals, The Pretenders and Wild Beasts.

As well as being able to listen to the gigs on the radio, they'll be streamed live to watch on Red Button and iPlayer and as catch up afterwards. Filmed in front of a live studio audience at Maida Vale, and now in its 5th year, the historic studios have seen the likes of De La Soul, Orbital, Paul Weller, Primal Scream, Bat For Lashes, Hot Chip, Suede, Richard Hawley, Foals, Goldfrapp, Sigur Ros, Paul McCartney, Manic Street Preachers, Johnny Marr, Underworld, James, Leftfield, Mercury Rev and New Order all perform.
