Sarah's guest this week is the award-winning broadcast journalist Hugh Sykes. Hugh began working in radio in the early 1970s, then after a stint in local TV he spent ten years on 大象传媒 Radio 4's Today programme. He went on to front PM on Radio 4 and his reporting has taken him all over the world, from China and Palestine to South Africa and Northern Ireland. He talks to Sarah about the dangers and delights of delivering features from the front line and chooses a selection of his favourite classical music.

Sarah's Artist of the Week is one of America's finest orchestras, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, an ensemble renowned especially for the warm sound of its impressive brass section. Every day this week Sarah will be showcasing recordings the orchestra has made with some of the most celebrated conductors of the twentieth century, including a classic account of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, conducted by Fritz Reiner. Other highlights are Brahms' Fourth Symphony with Daniel Barenboim, Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben with Bernard Haitink, Rafael Kubelik in Mozart's 'Prague' Symphony, and Georg Solti conducting Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.6 'Path茅tique'.
