It's a sweet time for sugar beet farmers, according to an industry leader, not just because he predicts an excellent harvest but also he says he sees enormous opportunities in the coming year. Also the RSPCA tells Farming Today it would like to see farm subsidies redirected towards improving animal welfare when the UK leaves the European Union.
